New Year's Resolution - Break it down into Quarters
Tis the time to make promises which we won't keep. The problem is not the intent, it is the time duration. I propose rather setting 1 single goal to increase your presence with Google and other search engines (SEO), you set 4. 4 goals in 12 months = 1 goal per quarter. Hopefully, you'll pick up a few new good habits along the way. Here are some great goals for you to get started:- Quarter 1: Read 1 SEO blog every day, so that your staying current on the constant changes. Starting this in January, you'll be able to take advantage of what you learn all year long. Set up Google Reader to make it easy. Other than this blog, I really enjoy SEOMoz's blog and White Hat, Black Belt for SEO insights. After you feel ready, try to blog yourself at least once a week.
- Quarter 2: Learn facebook and twitter. While everyone 'knows' what these two are, few people know fully how to focus campaigns on these two powerful platforms. There are ways to use these two tools to promote your business, and both have positively linked to helping promote your SEO work. Try to tweet and post to face book a few times each week.
- Quarter 3: Explore the power of Pay Per Click (PPC) this quarter. Page 1 can help decide if PPC would be a good use of your marketing dollars, and then help a develop a strategy for you. Not every organization should do PPC; our experts can help guide you.
- Quarter 4: Review your site. When was the last time you seriously reviewed your web site design? Many things have changed in the past few years, like sites being built in content management systems for quicker updates and more control. Do you have video yet on your site? Good site design helps visitors find content, builds creditability for you as a professional, and encourages potential customers to contact you.
Page 1 Solutions is your point of contact for all of these quarterly goals. Don't feel you have to stay to this order, of course. If you feel really inspired to dominate the internet this year, let's talk about starting all 4 goals concurrently!
