Google Launches Personal Blocklist
Google launched a new version of their Chrome Web Browser which allows users access to a free download which blocks websites they would no longer like to see in their search engine results. The download called "Personal Blocklist" is intended to limit spammy sites with low content quality to no longer show in personal searches.
Matt Cutts an engineer at Google said they have been exploring different algorithms to detect content farms, which are sites with shallow or low-quality content. Cutts also said Personal Bliocklist will send information of blocked sites back to Google and could potentially affect Google's ranking system of results.
Chrome will save a list of the user's blocked websites at the bottom of the search results when Personal Blocklist is installed. This makes it easy to see who you have blocked, and also easy to unblock a website if desired.
At Page 1 Solutions have always said "content is king" and this only adds to what we have said and what we have practiced for the past decade.
