Updating your Social Media Accounts
Many of my marketing clients frequently ask what they should update their Social Media accounts like Facebook and Twitter with. Below are a few simple tips that will help you get on your way to updating your Facebook status just as good as Mark Zuckerberg...
1. Establish your Voice
Will your account be serious, humorous, informative? Decide how you want to represent yourself and your business. Look at your audience, and ask yourself what is the best way to reach them.
2. What Do The People Want?
Once you have defined your voice, think about what kinds of things people want to actually read! You need to know your audience! You can lose fans fast if you are constantly promoting your business and not giving your audience what they really want.
3. 9 to 1 Rule
Follow the 9 to1 rule. Give your audience 9 helpful things, and yourself 1 promotion. Be willing to give out knowledge and don't be a narcissist! People don't want to be sold to, that's not what social media is about, engage your audience and give them things they actually want to read.
4. Find your niche
Lastly, ask yourself what things you can you do that no one else can offer. Give them a reason to come back to your page. Don't be ordinary, be extraordinary, be memorable!
